When you first meet someone, prepare to be questioned for as long as 15 minutes about your family, where you are from, and where you are traveling.

Do not ask about a person's husband or wife, but do ask about their children.

Never photograph a building with a Kenyan Flag on it and never photograph a person without asking their permission.

If you ask directions in Nairobi, it will be common for the person to walk with you to where you are going.

Kenyans will often tell you only what you want to hear, even if it is not the correct answer. If you ask "Is the store over there?" they will say"Yes" even if that is the wrong direction or the person does not know. It is better to ask "Where is the store?"

Never point with your finger. Instead, point with your chin. Close your mouth, lift, and aim your chin in the direction you want to point.
